About the event
When we talk about what we read with others in our community, something special happens.  We've chosen four books from which to examine stories and excerpts of lived experiences of Blacks in the US. These experiences range from first person narratives of formerly enslaved people; stories of methods employed to search for family members after emancipation; a memoir detailing one woman's search to unravel family history mysteries; and a pictorial representation of Black lives in Syracuse, NY. Each of these books have the potential to lead to powerful discussions.
